Rocket Gang
Reunited
The Rocket Gang
stood outside the Cerulean City caves, gazing inside nervously.
"Tell me why
we’re doing this again?" Kojiro asked, a sweatdrop forming above him.
"We need the
money...I think.." Musashi responded, looking over at Kojiro. The two
stared at each other for a moment, then nodded with as much fake confidence as
they could muster. Kojiro took her hand and they disappeared into the darkness.
Musashi and
Kojiro walked through the cave, with Nyase following far behind. They stopped
as soon as the light from the entrance of the cavern had dimmed to nothing.
"Where’s the
lamp, Kojiro?" Musashi asked, turning in his general direction.
Kojiro blinked in
the darkness. "I thought you had it!"
"What kind
of idiots go into a cave without a lantern?!" called Nyase, who was now
right behind them.
Musashi fumed.
"Ones like this!" she yelled, whacking him over the head with her
mallet. She sighed and pulled a monster ball out of her pouch. "I have to
do everything myself."
She pressed the
small silver button on the ball and threw it. A little orange lizard with a
bright flame on its tail popped out. "Char!" it exclaimed, looking
back at its owner.
"Charmander!
Light the way for us." Charmander nodded and marched ahead of them, the
light from its tail brightening the whole cave.
As they went on,
Kojiro turned to Musashi. "So what made you start training Pokemon?"
She stared
straight ahead. "I’ve always loved Pokemon. Training them has been my
dream."
"If you love
Pokemon so much...why did you join the Rocket Gang? All we do is capture them
for the boss."
She stopped for a
moment and was silent. She finally looked up at him. "I needed somewhere
to go. I wanted to be part of something, to be someone. I was so tired of being
just Musashi, and suddenly I could be Musashi, a member of the great Rocket
Gundan. And I liked that." She looked ahead again, deciding against telling
him that part of the reason she joined was to be with him.
He nodded in
understanding, and walked with her, thinking about his own past. He too had
joined for similar reasons; he had run away from his family and had nowhere
else to turn. He quickly shook his head, trying to rid his head of the memories
of his former life.
They nearly ran
into Charmander, who had stopped abruptly. The gang looked up to see a pair of
narrow eyes staring at them.
"Is...that a
Mewtwo..?" Musashi was captivated by the eyes and couldn’t pull her gaze
away from them.
"Char..."
Charmander replied quietly.
The figure
stepped out of the shadows, showing a body that looked almost like a
kangaroo’s. It was pure white, with a purple area along its stomach and back.
Its hands were webbed with three fingers per hand, and it had two small stubs
on its head. It seemed odd, but almost fearsome.
Charmander and
Kojiro backed away, but Musashi found herself unable to move.
"Musashi!
Get out of there!" Kojiro yelled, still walking back.
"I can’t,
you idiot!" she screamed, her eyes still caught by the eyes of the Mewtwo.
The Mewtwo’s eyes started to glow a pale purple. Kojiro watched helplessly as
it turned its head, and Musashi flew into a wall. It turned the other way,
causing Musashi to be thrown across the cave.
With its eyes
Mewtwo threw the paralyzed Musashi around like a rag doll. It finally closed
its eyes and Musashi landed against a back wall and slumped to the floor.
"Musashi-san!!"
shouted Kojiro, rushing over to her. He picked her up and shook her slightly.
"Musashi-san!"
She opened her
eyes and moaned. "Ooohh...I think I know why its never been
captured.." She fumbled around in her pouch for a monster ball, but Kojiro
stopped her.
"Let me try,
Musashi-san!" He smiled at her weakly. "You?! Well, okay. But only
because I love the look on your face after you’ve been defeated," she said
with a smirk.
Kojiro pulled a
monster ball out of his pocket, looking slightly ashamed that he still only had
one Pokemon after all this time. "Go, Wheezing!" he threw the ball in
the air and a large purple blob of a Pokemon came out. "Wheezing!"
"Wheezing!
Smog attack!" Kojiro ordered it. Wheezing let out a large cloud of poison
gas. Mewtwo looked up at it, unaffected, and blew the smog away. Mewtwo then
leaped up and formed a small ball of energy in its hands. It threw it at
Wheezing and the ball exploded, scattering bright rays of light around the
cave. When it faded, Wheezing was lying on the ground.
Kojiro quickly
called it back and looked to Musashi. "Um...your turn."
Musashi stumbled
to her feet, still disoriented. She pulled the first monster ball she could
find at Mewtwo, and her Arbok appeared. "Charbok!" it yelled,
slithering around the cave.
Musashi was a
little surprised that she had chosen her first Pokemon, and tried hard to
remember its attacks. "Arbok! Um...bind it!"
Arbok flew at
Mewtwo with lightening speed and coiled itself around the creature. As it tried
to squeeze it, Mewtwo began to glow blazing white. It spread its body and grew
to nearly the size of the cave, knocking Arbok against the wall. Arbok
rebounded off the a rock and struck at it, trying to bite it. Mewto slammed it
into the ground, leaving Arbok unconscious.
As Musashi called
Arbok back, Nyase leaped out of the shadows, roaring like a lion. He bit
Mewtwo’s tail, and it screamed in pain. Mewtwo began waving his tail, Nyase
still gripping it. Nyase pounced off the tail onto its head, and was repelled
off. Nyase fell to the floor and Mewtwo slashed at some rocks overhead, burying
Nyase under them.
Musashi turned to
Kojiro. "You know what we have to do now."
He nodded.
"Run like hell?"
Musashi pulled
her leg up to avoid being swatted by Mewtwo’s tail. "Hai!"
The both ran out
of the caves as fast as their feet would carry them, with Mewto following close
behind. Musashi saw a nearby tree and jumped into it, while Kojiro ran right
into its trunk.
"Oooo....stars..."
he said bewildered, and collapsed at the bottom of the tree.
Musashi sighed,
climbed down and hoisted Kojiro up the tree as Mewtwo flew overhead, not
noticing them.
