Chapter Six: Never say goodbye…

Rae opened her eyes to an incredibly white room. The surfaces reflected the light causing her great pain, and she blinked a few times, before looking around.

The room itself was almost silent, a machine beside her was beeping steadily, from outside a door on the far side of the room was the sounds of people moving busily. She looked down at her own hands and found a drip attached to it.

She turned to her other side and found her shoulder heavily bandaged, and as she turned immense pain shot through her left hand side and she winced. She turned to her other side, and spotted something.

A letter on the small bedside table beside her. With her good arm she reached out and picked it up, unfolding it carefully.

My Dearest Rae,

I have been assured by the hospital that you will live, and awake from your coma. You have no idea how I felt when I found that weak pulse, or as I sat beside your bed for your first five days in hospital.

Today, the day I’m writing this, is the sixth, and I am afraid I am leaving today. It’s the hardest thing I’ve had had to do in my life, but I really think it’s better for you and me like this. I have been treated like a criminal by almost everyone, and now I almost believe them. I am off to become what they believe I am. But maybe one day we will meet again.

I won’t ask you to forget me, because I could never forget you. But I hope you find someone who you can love and who can love you. I only want you to be happy Rae.

I love you.

Butch.

A tear smudged his signature, and Rae hugged the letter to her chest with her good arm.

“Oh Butch,” She muttered softly. Her fingers opened her locket and she turned it to her face, to see the smiling Butch inside. She looked into the pictures eyes, “I’ll always love you, and only you.”

~*~ El fini ~*~

He's very understanding

And he's so aware of all my situations

And when I stay up late

He's always waiting

But I feel him hesitate

Oh, I'm so worried about my love

They say "No, no, it won't last forever"

And here I am again my girl

Wondering what on earth I'm doing here

Maybe he doesn't love me

I just took a trip on my love for him

Ooh, he's here again-

The man with the child in his eyes

Authors Note:

I got the title from the song quoted at the beginning and end of this story. It’s by Kate Bush and I borrowed it without asking. (Sorry) I just though that really described the Butch I’ve written about.

I dunno, I like Butch and felt like writing a story about him (And you got off lucky, it’s only 23 pages, which is short for me) Please send me some feedback! Sallie_drazzi@hotmail.com
