The Team Takes Over

By Musashi

A pair of blue eyes attached to a head of bright red hair peered around a corner, checking for guards. They studied the area for a few minutes to be sure, then the girl they belonged to turned to her teammates. "Coast is clear. Let’s go." "Why do we have to sneak in anyway?" whined Kojiro, following behind Musashi. Nyase clawed at Kojiro’s back. "We don’t work here anymore, remember? They’d never let us in. Now keep walking!" "Someone help me with this!" Musashi called, pushing in on a large air vent cover. Nyase rolled his eyes and drew out his claws, hooking them on the cover. He tugged it slightly, pulling the piece of metal out onto the grass. "Baka," he muttered, jumping inside. Musashi leaned over and stared into the vent. "Eww! It’s so dirty! And there are spiders!" She shoved Kojiro towards the entrance. "You go first."

Kojiro’s eyes widened. "Why me?

Musashi thought for a moment, then finally settled on an answer. "Because I’m wearing a skirt." Kojiro fell over. **********

"Why do I have to be in front," Kojiro mumbled, crawling though the air duct. "Shut up and keep going! We’re almost there," Musashi replied, pushing him forward. The trio arrived at the end of the duct and squished together to peer into the room below. Beneath them was Sakaki, fighting a young trainer hoping to become a champion. As his Raichu was defeated, the trainer sent out a Rapidash. Sakaki withdrew his victorious Rydon and threw out a ball containing his newly aquired Mewtwo. the ball flashed and Mewtwo appeared, his eyes glowing a pale blue. "Mewtwo! Psychic!" Sakaki ordered, pointing towards the trainer and his Pokemon. Mewtwo’s eyes lit from blue to red and Rapidash dropped to the ground, wincing in pain. As the Rapidash passed out, Mewtwo turned to the trainer. He too fell to his knees and after a few moments passed out as well. Two Rocket Gang members entered the arena and dragged the trainer and his Pokemon out of the gym to the Pokemon Center.

"Return, Mewtwo." Mewtwo turned and glared at its master ferociously as he was sucked back into the master ball for later use. The gang stared down in awe. They had never had the opportunity to watch their boss battle, and had no idea he was so powerful.

"What now?" Kojiro whispered to no one in particular. Musashi gathered all the courage she could muster and pulled out a perfect red rose, putting it in front of Kojiro’s face. "We’ll do what we always do." As Kojiro took the rose from her hand, Musashi leaned down and yelled through the vent, "Nanda kanda to kikare tara!" "K-Kotaete ageru ga yo no sasake!" Kojiro stuttered, clearly caught off guard. Sakaki turned and looked toward the duct, already knowing who was there.

Musashi kicked the grate out and hopped down into the room. "Sekai no heiwa o fusegu tame!"

Kojiro jumped down after her, holding the rose to his face. "Sekai no heiwa o mamoru tame!"

"Ai to shinjitu no aku o turanuku!"

"Lovely charmy no katati yaku!"

"Musashi!"

"Kojiro!"

"Ginga o kakeru Rocket dan no futari niwa.."

"White hall, shiroi ashita ga matteruze!"

Nyase jumped down in front of the duo, sending a small chill down Musashi’s spine. "Nya-nte Nya!"

Sakaki shook his head. "I thought I fired you."

"You did," Musashi replied with a smirk, trying her best to sound as confident as ever. "We decided we could run this place much better than you can. So we’re taking over." Sakaki matched her smirk as he pulled his jachet aside. "I don’t think so." With that, he grabbed a monster ball off his belt and threw it into the arena. It flashed open and a beautiful blue bird soared out. It flapped its shining wings and looked down at the gang.

Musashi stared up at the bird for a moment, then reached into her pocket and pulled out five monster balls. She grabbed Kojiro’s hand and thrust the balls into it. "Use these."

He glanced at them quizzically. "They’ll listen to me? they’re your Pokemon..." "They’ll listen, alright?! If...if I lose, you fight him." She threw one of her remaining monster balls out. "But I won’t lose! Go Arbok!"

Arbok flew out of the ball and glanced back at Musashi. "Arbok! Bind!" Arbok leapt up and wrapped itself around the bird. "Now bite it!" she yelled, running closer to her Pokemon. Arbok bit it around the neck, making the bird screech in pain. Sakaki sighed. "Ice beam, Articuno," he told it, stepping back. Articuno began to glow white. As Arbok stared in awe, Articuno shot a brilliant sapphire beam at it. Arbok hissed and recoiled in fear. The beam surrounded it and formed into a large chunk of ice. It fell to the ground with a thud.

Musashi called it back and tossed out another ball. Moments later she withdrew it and threw out another. She brought out Pokemon after Pokemon, until all had passed out but the last one. She reached into her pouch and removed her last remaining ball. She stared at it for a few minutes, weighing her options. For a split second, she considered running away while she still could. She immediately shook the thought from her mind. *I’m not going to let him beat me!* she thought decidedly, her normal proud self taking over. She threw the last ball into the arena. "Go....Zapdos!"

"Zapdos?" Kojiro looked into the air above where a large yellow bird appeared.

"Hmm.." Sakaki looked up as well. "Clever. But not enough. Ice Beam!" Articuno immediately blasted at Zapdos and froze it instantly.

Musashi simply smiled. "Drill Peck!"

Zapdose suddenly broke free of the ice, showering Articuno with sharp bits of it. It soared towards Articuno, running it through with its strong beak. Articuno screeched wildly and collapsed on the ground. An odd look crossed Sakaki’s face as he called it back. "I’m truely impressed, Musashi. You really do know how to handle your Pokemon. But your skill level ends here." He pulled a familiar Master ball from his pocket and threw it at Zapdos. It flashed a brilliant red and Mewtwo jumped out.

Musashi paled, remembering her previous encounters with Mewtwo. With a single blast of Mewtwo’s Psychic attack, Zapdos was taken out of commision. Musashi numbly called it back, staring at Mewtwo with a look that wasn’t quite fear, but wonder and respect.

She looked back at her associates. To her horror, Nyase had dissappeared, and Kojiro stood there looking helpless. She turned back to see Mewtwo pouncing towards her. She screamed in fear, and soon everything went black.
